My next blog post was supposed to be a recap of our trip to Seattle & Vancouver, one of the most fun & special trips we’ve ever been on just the two of us. I had lots of pictures and recommendations to share with you guys. But that will have to come later.
Approximately 24 hours after we landed back in Nashville from our trip, we got THE call. The call that we have dreamed and prayed about for a very long time. The call that we have been so anxious to get, but many times felt would never come. Josh and I had driven out to the car dealership to pick up a rental car while my car was getting repaired. I was pulling out of the dealership when our caseworker called and immediately said, “I have some news for you that I think you’re going to like . . . We have a baby for you.” Tears streamed down my face as I replied, “Umm I have to pull over! I’m going to wreck this brand new car!” She laughed. “Oh. I didn’t know you were driving! I really should work on my delivery.” Haha!! After we got home and could safely call her back to learn every single detail we could about our precious baby, we drove to surprise our parents. What a special night! So many tears, hugs, and squeals (the latter from my mom). One week later, we met our daughter for the first time. We went to what they call the “family room” at our adoption agency, where we were first told all about her story, her medical history, etc. Then, her cradle care mom brought her in to us. (This is an extra special kind of foster parent who takes care of newborns until they are placed for adoption. Nora was Tracy’s 43rd baby!) There is no way to put into words what that moment felt like, meeting her for the first time. All of a sudden, everything made sense. All the prayers, the fears, the hoping, the waiting, the tears — everything suddenly aligned and we realized it was Nora all along. We didn’t know, couldn’t have known . . but God knew.
