Hi there! As I mentioned in the last post, one way Josh and I try to get through the adoption wait is by occasionally going on a weekend getaway. In October, we booked a little cabin in the mountains in Altamont, TN on Airbnb. We have had a rough year for several different reasons, so this was the perfect chance to escape, just the two of us. We also planned to do lots of reading and writing (I was in the planning stages of this blog), and practice using the new camera Josh had just surprised me with for the blog (best husband ever!). I completely underestimated how much we needed this weekend and the relaxation and revitalization we would gain from it.
Our Airbnb hosts, David and Kimberly, were seriously THE BEST. They live in another cabin close by, and did their best to make sure we had a great weekend. There were special little touches and Halloween decoration all around the cabin, and David even took us on a four-wheeler ride through the mountains on Saturday! We can’t wait to go back.
There is lots of great hiking around Altamont, too. However, there are very, very few restaurants, so if you go, just make sure you prepare and bring groceries. There is a cute little place with all types of biscuits for breakfast, though!
The last two pictures show the sunrise that Josh made me get up at 6:30 am to see (which is why my hair is such a mess). I was ornery at the time, but I can say now it was worth it.
If you’d like to go to Altamont yourself, here’s the Airbnb link.
